TOWN OF FENTON, NY -

The chilly weather didn't stop dozens of people from jumping in the 47 degree water at Chenango Valley State Park lake for the 8th Annual Polar Plunge that benefits the NY Special Olympics.

This year they've raised $7,000 for the organization that opens doors for people with special needs.

"People who are in the area who have special needs can go and do Olympics like bowling and they can do basketball," said Kenzie Carroll, a Plunge participant.

A number of educators and students in the Broome-Tioga BOCES special education programs participated in today's event.
