Binghamton's First Vegan Restaurant To Open Wednesday

Posted: Updated:

When Sara and Lei Liu set up a booth of vegan food at the Broome County Farmer's Market, they weren't expecting to make many sales. Half an hour later, Sara says they were completely cleaned out of their plant-based food. Now, Parlor City Vegan is a brick and mortar, permanent restaurant on Clinton Street.

"We've been really surprised by the demand for vegan food," says Sara Liu.

The Lius say they got help in growing their business through the Koffman Southern Tier Incubator and a Kickstarter campaign. They reached their goal of $7,000 within one week.

"We're so thankful to the community for the support that they've given us," says Liu.

Parlor City Vegan officially opens up it's doors at 81 Clinton Street on October 23rd, but they've been in business since 2016. Liu says they've had their booth at the Farmer's Market and done catering.

Liu says her menu consists of comfort foods. She says a favorite is the truffle mac and cheese.
