Hundreds Volunteer for United Way's "Day of Caring" in Broome County

Posted: Updated:
BROOME COUNTY, N.Y. -

Hundreds of volunteers are dispersing around Broome County, today and tomorrow, for United Way's annual "Day of Caring" event.

United Way organized groups of volunteers to help at numerous sites around the county.

This year, nearly 50 organizations will benefit from the "Day of Caring."

Nonprofits, including the Roberson Museum, love the extra help.

"It is so helpful. We're a nonprofit, so, like most nonprofits, we don't have a huge staff of people who are available to do this stuff, so anytime we can get extra people--extra hands--in here, to do the work, is such a huge blessing for us," said Kelly Cole, the public programs and volunteer coordinator at the Roberson Museum.
