Endicott Has High Hope for its New Street Cleaner

Posted: Updated:
ENDICOTT, N.Y. -

The Village of Endicott adds a street cleaner to its toolbox.

The Mayor of Endicott, John Bertoni; the Endicott Police Chief, Patrick Garey; and New York Assemblywoman, Donna Lupardo hosted today's meeting outside of the M&T Bank on Washington Avenue.

This announcement comes one week ahead of National Clean Up Day, which is next Saturday, September 20th.

Lupardo helped the Village acquire the $184,000 in grant money needed to purchase the sweeper. The remaining $166,000 from the Assembly State and Municipal Facilities (SAM) was invested in the village.

Authorities have high hopes for the street cleaner.

"Studies have shown that if you have a physical environment that is kept up, that is cleaned up, where people take pride in it--crime is reduced in there," said Garey.

Leaders encourage community members to take part in National Clean Up Day efforts next weekend.
