BINGHAMTON, N.Y. -

VOICES Recovery held a Recovery Celebration 2019 event with food, raffles, community resources, and narcan training to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of National Recovery Month on Saturday.

Director of VOICES Jeffrey Eaddy-EL says a lot of times a lot of people are unaware of local resources. The celebration was free to the public and provided resources while having fun.

Volunteer Penny Stringfield-Heiss lost her son Johny to overdose and says that he was trying to find social opportunities that were sober. She got involved with VOICES because they provide those opportunities.

"They have NFL parties, they have opportunities for road trips, they have meetings, they have yoga, they support the family..." said Stringfield-Heiss.

VOICES Recovery opened in October 2017 and is a free non-clinical recovery center for anyone seeking support or information about addiction and recovery. To contact them, call 607-821-7811.
