Seniors Compete In Their First-Ever 5K

Posted: Updated:
VESTAL, N.Y. -

Age did not matter for the Seniors Running and Walking Festival at the Vestal Rail Trail on Saturday. Three 90-year-olds and eleven seniors competed for the first time.

The race welcomed those who are fast, slow, use a cane, or a wheelchair. Race Director Vince Fox says the race is found to be a motivation for seniors to keep active.

"Some seniors are reluctant to go into regular 5K's...this is meant to be very comfortable for them," said Fox.

This was the fifth year the race took place.
