Celebrities and Golfers Hit the Links at Mudcat's All-Star Golf Tournament

Local golfers joined celebrities and more than two dozen celebrities at the Links at Hiawatha on August 29th to raise money for four local not-for-profit organizations.

The Jim "Mudcat" Grant All-Star Golf Tournament, now in its 18th year, raises money for CHOW, Broome County Urban League, Catholic Charities, and the Binghamton Boys and Girls Club.

The tournament also supported  veterans housing project on Pine Street in Binghamton through an additional fundraiser on the 9th hole.

The celebrities include members of the Black Aces like former MLB pitcher and Binghamton triplet player Al Downing. They join a list of well-known names around the Southern Tier and famous athletes such as former Yankees players Ron "The boomer" Bloomberg and Chris Chambliss, Former Met's players George Foster and Art Shamsky.

The tournament is hosted each year by Security Mutual Life Insurance, which founded the event as a way to give back to the community.
