I Run For... Half Marathon And 5K Continues To Raise Funds For A Cause

Posted: Updated:
Maine, N.Y. -

Everyone runs for a reason. For the founders of the I Run For... Half Marathon and 5k, that reason is to raise funds for cancer research.

Founder Steve Seepersaud says his sister-in-law had beat breast cancer and he and his wife wanted to do something to help others going through what their family just had. That's how the race was born. This year's race will be held on September 15th at the Town of Maine Park on Route 26.

"It's great to see that we get that support year after year from not only people in the local community that want to lend their support and participate in the event year after year, but out of towners and out of staters that really resonated with it," says Seepersaud.

Over the past five years, I Run For... has raised over $22,000 for charity. This year, a large portion of the proceeds will go to the Red Cross.
