Reality Check Hosts Community Fun Day

Posted: Updated:

Reality Check held a Community Fun Day at Cole Park on Wednesday to educate youth about the health hazards of tobacco and e-cigarette use in a fun way.

The event highlights the work Reality Check youth does to create tobacco-free communities in the region.

The Tobacco Control Program was awarded a small mini-grant by Broome County Parks to throw a community event at Cole Park. Tie-dyeing, water balloons, and cotton candy were all part of the activities open to the public.

"Our local reality check youth do a number of state-wide events, traveling up to Albany to meet with elected officials to explain the work they've been doing at a local level," says Reality Check Coordinator  Laura Kelly.

Reality Check aims to produce a change in their communities with grassroots efforts and education.
