Public Information Meeting Set On Rt. 11 Bridge Replacement Project in Dickinson

Posted: Updated:
TOWN OF DICKINSON, N.Y. -

When and Where

The meeting begins at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, August 20 in the lower level auditorium at the Cornell Cooperative Extension building at 840 Upper Front Street.
*Visitors should use the rear entrance.

The meeting will begin with an informal open house. At 6 p.m., representatives from the NYSDOT will present its plan that proposes to build a new bridge that would include a new 14-foot-wide multi-use path, separated by a barrier, for non-motorized traffic. Officials will also discuss two alternative plans.

The DOT says construction would start in 2021 and the project would take about two years to complete and include construction at two Front Street intersections: one is at the Front Street, Old Front St, and I-81 southbound ramp intersection; the second at the intersection at Rt. 11 and the 1-81 northbound off-ramps.

The state is also reviewing two possible alternative projects. One would utilize roundabouts at both intersections, while the other would utilize traffic signals. New sidewalks are also planned in front of Cutler Botanical Gardens to enhance the pedestrian network in the area.
