Yankees Fans Gear Up for 2019 Baseball HOF InductionPosted: Updated:
Yankee fans from near and far made the trip to Cooperstown to honor former Yankee pitchers Mariano Rivera and Mike Mussina being inducted this weekend as a part of the Hall of Fame Class of 2019. With two former Yankee pitchers being inducted Sunday, fans lined up early to set their chairs, blankets, and spots to see each of the greats give their speeches.
"I'm from the Bronx, and I had to come up to make sure I saw both Mariano Rivera and Mike Mussina inducted into the Hall of Fame," said Doreen Doyle. "Our family booked a house in January."
Thousands of fans are already in town for the HOF Weekend festivities. Executives believe this year's induction could eclipse the record-setting crowd of 82,000 fans who came to see Cal Ripken Jr.'s induction in 2007.
The Induction Ceremony will begin at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday and will be aired exclusively on the MLB Network.
