The Conklin Fair is Back in Town for the 48th Time

Thousands headed to Conklin this weekend for the Conklin Fair at 942 Conklin Road.

This year's event began on Thursday, July 11th with a parade to the Fair Grounds. The Grand Marshals were members of the Conklin Volunteer Fire Department, in honor of its 75th anniversary. The parade also featured area mascots, antique cars, magicians, the Binghamton High School Steel Drum Band, and more. 

The event is a local staple and community members have been attending, "Probably since it started. Quite a long time. It's always a good time," said Sharon and Ray Knapp.

Attendees keep coming back year after year for the, "Good food, its friendly too, friendly atmosphere, nice rides," said R. Knapp.

There are a plethora of food options including the Conklin Kiwanis Club's funnel cakes and Frosty Joe's ice cream. Other notable selections were the hamburgers, hot dogs, strawberry short cake, and sandwiches.

Dozens of boardwalk games and rides are set up for families to enjoy.

The Edwards Farm animals returned this year for the children's petting zoo.

The BC Stallions Punt, Pass, and Kick Competition is available all three days for kids under 13 to try.

Today, Friday, July 13th, featured a job fair from 10am to 3pm for community members. 

A different band plays live music from the center of the grounds every night; Thursday was 5th Gear, Friday was Short Change, and Saturday will be Rich Wilson, The Look and Kevin Ludwig & Several Sons.

If you have not been to the fair yet, the Knapp's said, "Everybody come on down, here it's quite a nice time."
