Supplies For Homeless Being Collected In Vestal Olum's Parking Lot

Posted: Updated:

Supplies to help those experiencing homelessness in our community are being collected in the Vestal Olum's parking lot.

This is the fourth year of Camp Out To Stamp Out Homelessness. The event is held during Olum's annual tent sale. The donations go to three local charities: Catholic Charities of Broome County, RISE, and the Broome County Humane Society to help homeless individuals, families, veterans, and pets in our community.

"People in the Triple Cities look for opportunities to help the community," says Vestal Olum's store manager Ed Isenberg.

Isenberg says the donations event is a way for the store to help the community they do business in. The public can stop by now until 3pm on Sunday July 14th. The charities are in need of items like non-perishable foods, hygiene items, paper towels, pet food, and clothing.

The camp-out is collecting donations 24 hours a day, with representatives from Magic 101.7, GHS Federal Credit Union, Olum's, and Mark Anderson from State Farm on site for the duration. There will also be food, live music, and other entertainment throughout the weekend.
