New York State Police Arrest Father in Connection with Death of His Infant DaughterPosted: Updated:
The New York State Police have arrested and charged 25-year-old Cody Franciscovich of Owego, NY with murder in the first degree of his eight-month-old daughter Ruby.
Ruby's mother called Tioga County 911 around 7:14 a.m. Sunday morning for a welfare check after she discovered her eight-month-old daughter was missing from the Deep Well Motel in the Town of Tioga. The family, including two other children ages two and four, had been residing at the motel for several weeks.
Tioga County 911 received another call alerting authorities of a naked man on Route 17C in the Town of Tioga shortly before 8 a.m. The man was identified as Franciscovich and was found by troopers just west of the motel. After troopers asked him about the infant's whereabouts, he took them to a pond behind St. Patrick's Cemetery, where she was face down roughly 25 feet from shore. Ruby was retrieved from the water, troopers initiated CPR, and she was transported to Wilson Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
Franciscovich was remanded to the Tioga County Jail without bail and is set to appear in court on Wednesday, June 12 in the Town of Tioga court. The investigation is on-going and Child Protective Services are involved.
