The June 5 ServPro Hometown Heroes segment recognizes Jon Lee. Lee was also honored by the Red Cross with the 2019 Workplace Safety Award.

At about 3 p.m. on May 9, 2018, Willis Smith's crew was leaving the job site at the Binghamton-Johnson City Sewage Treatment Plant on Old Vestal Road.

Smith was outside his truck getting ready to drive home. Smith's nephew, Jon Lee, was waiting for him inside the truck.

Lee said he heard a thud and saw his uncle on the ground. A volunteer firefighter for the Deposit Fire Department, Lee learned Smith had no pulse and his breathing was shallow.

His uncle had suffered a heart attack.

Lee started CPR and called for on site AED and for coworkers to call 911. He would continue CPR with the help of another person until the AED was deployed. Lee helped the rescue team load his uncle into the ambulance and stayed with him at the hospital for hours.

After the heart attack, Lee would only have only had a few short months with his uncle before he would pass away.

Lee should be recognized for his quick thinking on the job in helping his uncle, putting into action the training he learned as a volunteer firefighter
