Brindisi aide charged with soliciting underage prostitutePosted: Updated:
A longtime aide to Rep. Anthony Brindisi (D-N.Y.) was arrested and charged with a misdemeanor for soliciting a prostitute.
According to New York State Police, troopers arrested John A. Stemen, 57, of Utica, on Friday.
The 57-year old has been charged with Patronizing a Prostitute 3rd degree, a class “A” misdemeanor, following an investigation involving a 17-year old who he admitted to paying $200 for a "sexual date."
Police said Stemen met the girl online.
“As soon as we were made aware of the charges, John Stemen was immediately terminated from his position,” Brindisi’s office said in a statement to The Hill.
New York State Assembly records reviewed by the Times Union show that Stemen worked for Brindisi in the state house since at least 2012 and joined his district office staff when Brindisi was elected to Congress in November.
