SUNY Broome: Power Expected To Be Restored By Tonight With Temporary Power Source

Posted: Updated:
TOWN OF DICKINSON, N.Y. -

A SUNY Broome spokesperson said a two-day power outage started Wednesday morning when the school's main transformer broke down. Officials say NYSEG is providing a portable substation and they expect power will be restored by Thursday night.

The main transformer located on North College Drive had to be sent out for repairs.

Spokesperson Jennifer Micale said the Student Village residence hall located at the front of the campus wasn't affected. Neither was email or online classes.

For the second day, SUNY Broome has canceled classes due to a power outage. SUNY Broome Spokesperson Jennifer Micale issued the release that the main campus was closed on shortly before noon on Thursday, May 9, 2019.

A power outage forced the school to close its main campus on Wednesday, too.

Students and faculty can still access online courses and campus email.
