The Binghamton University athletic department showed up in full force at Chenango Valley High School on Saturday for the 2019 Broome-Tioga Special Olympics. Student athletes and coaches from men's and women's basketball, wrestling, and more volunteered to make a difference in the local athletic community.
Volunteers were paired up with competitors, spending the day with them, cheering them on during their events, and accompanying them to award presentations.
"It's incredible what these athletes can accomplish," said women's basketball sophomore Kaylee Wasco. "The end all be all is we're not just here to play sports, we're here to make bonds and connections. You can't beat something like this."
