Giants Shock NFL Draft With No. 6 Pick, Daniel JonesPosted: Updated:
Nashville, TN - Daniel Jones is the pick for the New York Giants at No. 6 in the 2019 NFL Draft. He’s kind of a surprise pick since there was so much defensive talent left up on the board such as Kentucky edge rusher Josh Allen and Ed Oliver.
Jones will sit behind Eli Manning for at least one year and the situation could not be more perfect for either player. Manning and Jones were both mentored by the same coach, David Cutcliffe and both endorsed by Peyton Manning.
According to GiantsWire, Jones stated, “I’m certainly thrilled to be in New York and I can’t wait to get started,” Jones also said. “I think I was just confident in myself and showed the best version of myself in the process.”
Jones also said he can “make every throw on the field.” We saw that at his pro day where he turned in a solid performance. He indeed made all the throws and showed good mobility.
The New York Giants drafted Clemson Defensive Tackle Dexter Lawrence.
The New York Jets took Alabama defensive tackle Quinnen Williams with the No. 3-overall pick.
The Buffalo Bills got a steal with their ninth overall pick. They drafted Defensive Tackle Ed Oliver out of Houston.
