OWEGO, N.Y. -

The Owego Apalachin Central School District teamed up with the Tioga County Chamber of Commerce on Friday to put together the 2nd annual career day.

5th grade through 12th grade students at Owego Free Academy spent the day speaking to nearly 50 different local businesses about different career opportunities and paths after and during high school.

Phil Schofield, Head of Discipline and Test Coordinating at Owego Free Academy said, " Our district is really focused on yes approaching college readiness and going to college but we also want to focus on our STEAM Town Initiative, and giving kids the understanding that career development might not just be a college path... career development could be working with local businesses and setting up co-op opportunities".

The career day was a chance to show these students that there are options after high school, whether that be college, trade school, or even starting a career locally.
