New Funding To Help Recovering Addicts Find, Return To Work

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. -

Local government, schools, businesses and community agencies Wednesday learned more about new federally funded projects to help people in recovery find or return to work.

The regional group that represents eight Southern Tier counties in the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) hosted the April 10th summit in downtown Binghamton as a way to bring groups together.

The money is part of the SUPPORT Act passed by Congress last year.

Jen Gregory, Executive Director for Southern Tier Regional 8 Planning Board said Recovery-To-Work programs are an important piece in helping communities and addicts.

"It's part of who they are. And we know that once you are in recovery one of the best things you can have is being back at work and contributing as you would like to do so," said Gregory.

Broome, Chenango, Delaware and Tioga are among eight Southern Tier counties in the federal Appalachian Regional Commission.
