The Binghamton University baseball team defeated the University of Maine 4-1 in the second game of their America East opening doubleheader on Sunday. Junior pitcher Ben Anderson struck out a career-high 10 batters in the second match. The Bearcats second win produced a split, with the Black Bears dominating the first game 8-0.
"After the first game I had to challenge the guys a little bit to find a way to get better and compete a little harder," said head coach Tim Sinicki. "Most times it starts with the guy on the mound. I think Ben did a terrific job all the way through the sixth inning when he got out of a jam so a lot of credit to the guys for coming back and getting a win in game two. "
