VESTAL, N.Y. -

Binghamton University baseball begins America East play with a doubleheader against the University of Maine on Sunday. The Black Bears are 1-17 overall, but have one of the hardest schedules in the NCAA. Despite their record, head coach Tim Sinicki is not counting them out.

"Historically Maine has very good players in their program," said Sinicki. "We all have talent in the league but those kids come at you and they're ready to play. Every time we play them, we know we got our hands full."

"Every team in our conference is competitive," said junior pitcher Ben Anderson. "I think we're going to play some great games against them."

Right-handed pitchers Nick Gallagher, a senior, and Ben Anderson, a junior, will start in Sunday's games. The two are conference standouts; Gallagher was named the 2017 America East Pitcher of the Year and Anderson, a two-time Pitcher of the Week so far this season.
