Summit To Focus On How Employers Can Recruit And Retain Workers In Addiction RecoveryPosted: Updated:
An upcoming conference aims to help employers better understand a growing percentage of the workforce: Those recovering from addiction. The Substance Abuse Active Recovery Workforce is the topic of the April 10th Industry Summit.
"It's been found that folks who are in active recovery, of course they need the support of their families, but it's shown that their active recovery is more successful if they are employed. So, we're trying to bring that conversation to light," says Jen Gregory, the Executive Director of Southern Tier 8 Regional Board.
Southern Tier 8 and the Southern Tier Central Regional Planning & Development Board are partnering to put together the event, which will run from 8am to 10am on April 10th at the McKinley in Endicott.
Guest speakers will outline how best to advertise job openings to those in recover, how to better understand their needs, legal issues, and how to make the workplace a recovery-friendly space.
Organizers say both public and private sector employers are encouraged to attend. Registration is open until march 29th and costs $20 per person.
