Minor injuries in overturned tractor-trailer crash

Posted: Updated:
HANCOCK, NY -

Multiple crews responded to a 911 report of an over-turned tractor trailer on St. Hwy. 17 in the Town of Hancock early Wednesday morning.

Delaware County deputies and fire and emergency squads responded to the scene near the Horton exit around 3:30 a.m.

The driver of the truck, Cody R. Camp, 27, of Barton, sustained only minor injuries. He was evaluated at the scene and declined further medical treatment.

According to deputies, Camp was traveling east when he fell asleep when he came upon a curve in the roadway. The tractor trailer then struck the guard rails, which caused the truck to over-turn and the attached box trailer to break open.

Deputies said the truck was carrying mixed freight, which included pharmaceutical products, that spilled as a result of the crash and was subsequently recovered.

NYSDOT crews closed down the eastbound lane of the highway to investigate the crash and clean up the scene.

Camp was issued a traffic summons for unsafe lane change and directed to answer the charge in the Town of Hancock Court on a later date.
