BINGHAMTON, N.Y. -

Broome-Tioga BOCES hosted the Region 12 Odyssey of the Mind Tournament on Saturday.

96 teams, 40 different area schools, and over 600 students participated in Saturday's tournament.

Students ranging from elementary to high school levels have been working since October putting together costumes and skits to showcase their creativity, ingenuity, and resourcefulness.

The categories for the competition are released in the Fall and students work for the majority of the school year to gather and present their solutions,

Allison Forbidussi and Aubrey Dixon, Windsor School District students said they spent 3 hours every other day preparing for the tournament as well as 5 hours on weekends.

Forbidussi said, "as long as you go in being happy and working as a team, supporting one another that's the most important thing", "I wish people took Odyssey as serious as they did other sports, it's just like other sports you make these bonds and make friendships that last forever".

Dixon says, "some of the bonds I've made here will last a long time".

Teams that won their events today will qualify for the State round of the tournament being held right here at the University of Binghamton on March 23rd.
