Manny Machado's $300M Padres Contract Is 2nd Largest In MLB History
The Manny Machado free agency tour has finally reached its destination and it looks like its in San Diego. The Padres agreed to terms with the infielder on a decade-long deal. Following his half-season stint with the Los Angeles Dodgers, Mark Feinsand of MLB.com reported the 10-year deal is worth $300 million, making it "the biggest free-agent contract in the history of American sports."
Machado's deal reportedly features an opt-out provision after the fifth year, per Yahoo Sports' Tim Brown.
