Crute has been charged with Manslaughter in the 2nd degree. According to the felony complaint, Crute recklessly caused the death of Jerome Smith inside a Burbank Ave house.

"It's a very complex investigation. There's a lot to do with witnesses and a lot of medical information and things in that nature and we'll continue to work on it," said Steve Cornwell, Broome County District Attorney.

"We can't really have any further comment of the facts and circumstances of the case because the case, in one sentence, ended today in arrest, but it's really ongoing and just started," said Cornwell.

The investigation is ongoing, and no further information will be released at this time.

All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
