Police Release Drunk Driver Involved In Head-On Crash With Deputy

VESTAL, N.Y. -

According to the Broome County Sheriff's Office, the drunk driver involved in a head-on crash with a deputy has been released from police custody. 

The Sheriff's Office said Daniel Butash, 34, of Endicott, was released Monday at 4 p.m. 

Butash is facing multiple charges, including DWI, Vehicular Assault, and Assault, after driving the wrong way on Route 17 resulting in the head-on crash with Broome County Deputy Kristy Botsford early Friday morning. 

Deputy Botsford sustained serious injuries, including a broken femur, hip, and ankle. She was treated at Wilson Hospital and was released Monday.
