Cyber-security Workshop Looks To Strengthen Manufacturers DefensesPosted: Updated:
A Cyber security workshop was held in Owego on Thursday morning to help manufacturers facing increased cyber risks.
The New York Manufacturing Extension Partnership( NY MEP) held the workshop to help Southern Tier manufacturers understand the need for strengthening their systems especially with those with contracts from the U.S Department of Defense(D-O-D).
Across New York State there are over 1,600 manufacturers with D-O-D contracts, which can bring in a significant amount of revenue along with economic growth and job creation.
But without Cyber security, you can put the entire program in harm's way says, Everton Henriques, New York MEP Solutions Director for Fuzehub.
Henriques said "It's important the DOD is our last line of defense to our Country... if one company in the chain has a cyber security breach that could have devastating effect on the entire program so we’re trying to avoid that on every level”.
