Binghamton Pond Festival is Underway

Posted: Updated:

Friday Local leaders, partners and organizers held a press conference to announce the beginning of the 4th annual Binghamton Pond Festival.

The event is held every year at the Chenango Valley State Park and this year they made the sheet of ice in front of the pine plains pavilion where in the past year the rink was made on the actual lake.

Event coordinator Tytus Haller says that the adult pond hockey tournament has sold out team slots as well as having to turn away over 20 teams, with people coming as far west as California to attend the event.

They will also be holding a Youth Hockey Weekend as well as skills and skating competition and fireworks.

The event runs throughout the weekends of January starting Friday and running through the 27th.

Also new this year the Pond Festival will be hosting an ice sculpting and chili competition in Downtown Binghamton.
