Red Cross Assisting Family Displaced By Fire In Town of Maine

Posted: Updated:
TOWN OF MAINE, N.Y. -

The American Red Cross is assisting a family displaced by a house fire in the Town of Maine on Monday morning. According to a family member, the family of four lost everything in the fire on Frederick's Road. Firefighters say the inside was "charred and gutted" from the blaze that started in the basement.

The Red Cross says the resources they offer to displaced persons include funding for housing, food and clothing, and specially-trained Disaster Mental Health volunteers to assist the families with the emotional aspect of losing their home. After this initial response, the Red Cross says caseworkers will meet with the family to come up with a long-term recovery plan.
