AJ Desantis Signs LOI To Colgate UniversityPosted: Updated:
Endwell, N.Y. - Maine-Endwell 's football standout AJ Desantis signed his National Letter of Intent to play football at Division I, Colgate University on Thursday. The two-time captain led by example both on and off the football field throughout his four years as a starter for Maine-Endwell.
"He's a perfect representation of what we want to get out out from someone who plays here. I know Maine-Endwell is super proud that he can go out there and represent Maine-Endwell." said head coach, Matt Gallagher.
"The leadership he brings to the table both on and off the field speaks volumes about him."
The offensive lineman's accomplishments on the football field are just as impressive as what he does off of it. Desantis, a member of the National Honor Society coaches youth football, volunteers at the Southern Tier Soup Kitchen, as well as local fundraisers, such as, Downs Syndrome and Cancer.
As for football accolades, the list goes on and on. Desantis was selected to "NYS All State Football Team" his Sophomore and Junior year, as well as USA Today All USA (NY) Football Team, being the only Junior on First Team Offense. Nationally, he was apart of the US National Football team (U-18 - 2017; U-17-2016, vs Japan and Canada.
"It just feels amazing. The one day I went up last year in March when they gave me my offer, that was when it really struck me, like wow I can really go to the place I've always wanted too" said AJ.
AJ plans to study Biology/Premedical Science in the Fall of 2019 at Colgate University.
