Vestal, N.Y. - Binghamton Men's basketball freshman guard Sam Sessoms has been named America East Rookie of the Week, the conference announced Monday. It's the second time in three weeks that Sessoms has earned the honor.
Sessoms averaged 19.0 points and 7.5 rebounds in a 1-1 week for the Bearcats. He shot 45 percent from the floor and also led the team in minutes (34.0/game) and assists (3.5/game).
In his first six collegiate games, the former Philadelphia-area scholastic standout has hit double figures each game and ranks third in the conference in scoring (17.8 ppg.). In addition, he ranks 10th in the entire nation in freshman scoring average and is 49th among all players in made field goals (45).
Binghamton returns to action on Wednesday with an away game at Army West Point.
