Posted: Updated:
VESTAL, N.Y. -

People across the Southern Tier visited their local polling places to participate in this years Broome County Board of Elections.

Voters have the chance for the voices to be heard in the Congressional, Senate, assembly, and city legislatures.

David Tanenhaus a voter of 50 years spoke with us about the importance of this years vote saying "I think this is a very important year to vote I think it gives people the chance to express how they feel in a country that's very divided right now... and hopefully this vote will help us come back together and give people the voice they need".

The polls opened on Tuesday at 6 o'clock in the morning and close at 9 at night.

For those who cast their vote today, they were rewarded with an "I voted today" sticker, which has become a trend on social media platforms.
