UPDATE: 11 Year Old Remains In Critical Condition After Being Struck By Vehicle In Binghamton

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. -

UPDATE: An 11 year old child remains in critical condition after being struck by a vehicle in Binghamton Tuesday morning. Police have identified the boy as Jariah Durgala. 

Police say Durgala was crossing State Route 7 near Frederick Street when he was struck by an SUV around 7:30am. It was an active work zone, and the child was with a friend, who was not injured. 

Durgala was taken to Wilson Hospital before being airlifted to Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse. 

ORIGINAL STORY: State police are investigating after a child was hit by a motor vehicle Tuesday morning.

According to authorities, the child was crossing State Route 7 near Frederick Street in Binghamton when he was struck around 7:30 a.m.

Police say the child was taken to Wilson Hospital before being transported to Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse and is in serious condition. 

State police say the child was crossing the street with a friend when the incident occurred. The friend was not injured. 

No tickets have been issued. The investigation is ongoing.
