I Run For Marathon Brings Runners From Around The Globe

Posted: Updated:

TOWN OF MAINE, N.Y.- This year marks the 5th anniversary of the "I Run For Half - Marathon, Marathon" in the town of Maine.

Since 2014, the run has raised over $14,000 for cancer research.

The idea behind the race is runners all have a purpose for running whether it be for a loved one fighting cancer, or even personal motivation.

Runners from seven countries and fifteen states have attended the event, helping raise awareness of the cause.

Broome County Executive Jason Garner will be running the 5K for the third time. He says the marathon is a great way to bring in local business for Broome County.

All 35 of the marathon slots have been filled for the race in September, but CEO Steve Seepersaud says there is still plenty of availability in the half-marathon and 5K.

He expects over 200 people to attend this years event and looks forward to the event to continue growing.
