Binghamton, N.Y - On Tuesday, the Rumble Ponies returned to Binghamton, but, they returned without Levi Michael and Tim Tebow. But, on the bright side, two new faces stepped foot on the diamond at NYSEG stadium for the first time in their baseball career.
Mets top prospect, 19 year old Andres Gimenez and 23 year old Will Toffey who was aquired from the Oakland Athletics organization in the Jeurys Familia deal. Both players were promoted from High A ball to Double-A last week.
In Toffey's first at bat in Double-A, he blasted a two-run homer. Gimenez on the other hand, struggled in his first series of Double-A pitching, going 0-for-13.
"The competition is just an up tick, the pitching and command gets a little bit better and just kind of being comfortable in the box and getting used to a better pitcher on a day in and day out process is where I'm kind of at with it" said Toffey.
"You know i just need to get used to it, to the level, it's kind of like experimenting trying to adjust, it's different coming from high-A to Double-A , the pitching is different, they pitch better" said Gimenez.
