Music Lives on Binghamton's WaterfrontPosted: Updated:
Hundreds lined the bank of the Chenango River in Binghamton Thursday afternoon, enjoying the beautiful day with a soundtrack set by the nationally acclaimed, indie-folk band Driftwood.
As the first main act of the 2018 Binghamton Live on the Waterfront Series, Driftwood played the stage at Martin Luther King Park.
The free bi-weekly concert event will continue July 26, 2018, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with more bands, local crafts and foods, area breweries, and even more flavors of the Southern Tier.
Hosting the series until September 6, 2018, the Gorgeous Washington Street Association's Board Chairman, Chris Bodnarczuk, said he's hoping to change the stigma of "nothing ever happens in Binghamton," by bringing the area a full lineup of events to keep the public singing along that Binghamton has something to offer for everyone.
"I've spent my whole career trying to get the word out to people...and I just want people to be proud of the town they call home," said Chris Bodnarczuk.
Bodnarczuk's association also hosts Porch Fest, and said he and the City of Binghamton Office of Economic Development are working to continue bringing Downtown more arts and events.
