Broome County Demolishes Largest Eyesore in Deposit

Posted: Updated:
DEPOSIT, NY -

The 125-year-old Agway chimney in Deposit was demolished Friday,  The 150-foot-tall chimney was brought down in order to pave way for a brand new community park that will include a new football and field hockey field, basketball courts, as well as the addition of a secondary baseball field.

The Deposit Community Park will serve as focal point for the rural community. The park will be the catalyst for revitalizing the entire Village of Deposit as well as the surrounding area.

Demolition was made possible by a $20,000 grant from County Executive Garnar’ s small community fund initiative. It’s the first grant awarded from the fund, with many more projects across the county to be funded later this year.
