Local Dads Get Island Breakfast on Father's Day

Posted: Updated:

Dads were treated to sunshine and clear skies on Father’s Day this year.

Making traditional outdoor events such as the Waterman Conservation Center’s breakfast on Hiawatha Island more enjoyable.

About 150 people climbed aboard a pontoon boat to the island, where families could explore after being treated to a farm-style breakfast.

The Waterman Conservation Center has been putting on the Hiawatha Island breakfast for 27 years.

Karen Harvey, an employee of Waterman says "This is a natural habitat. There’s nothing to disturb their peace out here. And there’s deer on the island, a lot of times they swim over, like right now the river is low."
