Locals React To Roseanne Barr's Tweets

BROOME COUNTY, N.Y. -

ABC has canceled its successful "Roseanne" revival just hours after the star posted racist tweets towards Obama advisor Valerie Jarrett.

Roseanne Barr wrote on Twitter Tuesday quote "Muslim Brotherhood & Planet Of The Apes had a baby = VJ.", the initials for Valerie Jarrett, who is an African American woman and former senior aide to former President Obama.

The star later blamed the insomnia drug Ambien for her late-night tweeting.

The maker of Ambien responded to Barr's statement Wednesday saying that "racism is not a known side effect."

Fox 40 spoke to residents in Broome County to hear what locals had to say.

"I think they were idiotic and unnecessary and quite rude."

"Well, it's not a big deal for cutting off her show and every day our president Donald trump says a comment about racism and nobody says anything about that. Roseanne said something, it's not fair to shut off her show. They have to say something to our president before they say something to Roseanne."

"It affects a lot more people than just her. I think she should have repercussions, but I'm not sure the show and all should be canceled."

"People just blow everything up."

"It's sad that all the people that work on the show are getting hurt by what she did but i guess that's part of show business."
