Police Still Searching for Suspects in Carlisle Hills ShootingPosted: Updated:
Binghamton Police are still searching for the suspects in a shooting at Carlisle Hills Apartments on Binghamton's East Side Monday afternoon.
One man was shot in the chest just before 1:30 p.m. in the area of Building 18. The victim then drove his SUV down the street to Building 13, where police say his relatives live. He walked into an apartment, collapsing on the kitchen floor. His mother made the call to 911.
While Fox 40 was on scene shortly after the shooting, a woman cried out, "Oh my god, they shot my baby!"
The victim was conscious when EMS arrived and was transported to Wilson Hospital.
Police continue to search for two suspects who fled on motorcycles. Police did catch up with them on Chenango Street, but the suspects got away. One is described as wearing a red shirt.
Binghamton Police Chief Joe Zikuski said they believe the shooting was not a random act.
"In this particular case, we believe the victim was targeted, it's our understanding there was some type of altercation or argument before the shots were fired. So, this was not a random act, we believe the victim probably knows who shot him."
As of 9:15 p.m. Monday, police had not located the suspects. Stick with Fox 40 for more on this developing story.
Chief Zikuski says the victim was conscious when transported to the hospital. He reportedly was taken to Wilson Hispital. Police are searching for two suspects who fled on Crotch Rockets.
