CONTI Jewelers Announces Student Contest WinnerPosted: Updated:
Art students at Maine-Endwell were given the opportunity to design and create jewelry that would be sold exclusively at CONTI Jewelers.
CONTI Jewelers held the second annual jewelery design contest. They recognize and acknowledge innovation and individuality amongst high school students.
"We really want to promote the arts. So many young people are into sports these days, but we really wanted to push the arts and give some local artists a chance to win a big prize" says Chris Daniel, President of CONTI Jewelers.
Saturday, the jewelers announced the second year winner, ninth grade student Nova Fleming. Nova says that she wanted to stay away from using any gems and focus more on a natural-looking design, something that stood out to President Chris Daniel.
"It was the combination of the animals, the cat, the stars, the moon, different elements, organic elements that really set it apart from the rest of the pieces" says Daniel.
As the winner of the contest, Nova received her custom pendant and a certificate. Nova's design will be sold, at CONTI Jewelers in sterling silver for $149. Profits from Nova's pendant will help raise money for local animal shelters.
