Ely Park Golf's New Management Nearing Renovation Completion

Posted: Updated:
BINGHAMTON, N.Y. -

The 85-year-old Ely Park Golf Course is nearing the completion phase of a recent renovation under the new manager of Davern Management, LLC.

Tuesday, Matthew Davern, owner of Davern LLC, spoke with Fox 40 about some of the golf course's newest additions, including a purchase of roughly $30,000 in mowing and turf building equipment to maintain the fairways and greens, a reopened Pro Shop, and new golf carts leased from Empire Golf Cars in Conklin.

Davern said the Ely Park is now fully operational golf-wise, but he is still waiting on the City of Binghamton, owner of Ely Park Golf Course, to finalize the bidding process on the park's restaurant, which could be open by June 1, 2018.

Once Binghamton has a contract with a restaurant bidder, Davern said he can also reopen the park's bar for thirsty patrons. "We already have our liquor license, so once the process is in there we can send the pictures to our liquor authority and they will be able to approve it," said Matthew Davern.

Matthew Davern said he is still shopping for a sprinkler system but expects to have one purchased and installed soon.

Ely Park Golf Course is open daily starting at 7 a.m.
