Binghamton University Murder Suspect Indicted

Posted: Updated:
BROOME COUNTY, N.Y. -

A grand jury has handed up an indictment for Michael Roque, accused of murdering Binghamton University freshman Joao Souza. The indictment alleges that Roque, 20, intentionally caused the death of the 19 year old engineering student inside a college dorm on April 15th.

Roque, also a student at the university, is accused of entering Souza's suite in Windham Hall and stabbing him multiple times. Souza was transported to Wilson Hospital where he died as a result of his injuries. After police canvassed the campus, Roque was arrested in his dorm. He pleaded not guilty to a charge of second degree murder.

Now, another arraignment will be scheduled for Roque in Broome County Court on that grand jury indictment.
