Vestal Coal House Sponsors Annual Tutu Run

Posted: Updated:
VESTAL, N.Y. -

Nearly 80 people participated in the fourth annual Mother's Day Tutu Run. Runners wear tutus to commemorate the 2.2. mile distance of the run along the Vestal Rail Trail.

Participants raised hundreds of dollars to benefit Johnson City's Mom's House, an organization that provides free child care services to single mothers enrolled in school. The run cost $15 for individual participants and $26 for teams.

The Binghamton Zoo brought their Zoomobile to entertain runners after the race. Mark Mushalla of the Vestal Coal House said the event is a great way to spend Mother's Day Weekend.

"People have fun, they dress up, and the tutus are a great theme. It's just about helping this organization and it seems to fit into Mother's Day," said Mushalla.
