UPDATE: BHS Teacher Arrested, Accused of Sexual Conduct With 15 Year Old

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. -

UPDATE May 08, 2018 2:51 PM: A Binghamton High School teacher has been arrested and charged with two counts of criminal sex acts and endangering the welfare of a child. 

Timothy J Lee, 47 of Vestal, is accused of engaging in oral sexual conduct with a 15 year old girl. Court documents allege the conduct occurred twice: Once in 2016 and once in 2017. He was arrested on May 2nd following an investigation by Binghamton Police. 

Lee had already been arrested and arraigned when the Binghamton Central School District sent out the below statement.

The district was made aware of allegations of misconduct regarding a teacher at Binghamton High School. Immediately following the receipt of a concern, the teacher was placed on administrative leave while a thorough review was conducted by the district and the Binghamton Police Department. As always, our top priority remains providing a safe, top quality education for the students of our district. There is no evidence that the alleged misconduct extend beyond this situation.

The district did not name Lee or mention the arrest. 

According to the New York State Education Department, Lee has held a teaching certification for special education since 2004. 

May 07, 2018 1:51 PM: A Binghamton High School teacher has been placed on administrative leave following allegations of misconduct, according to a statement from the district. 

The district was made aware of allegations of misconduct regarding a teacher at Binghamton High School. Immediately following the receipt of a concern, the teacher was placed on administrative leave while a thorough review was conducted by the district and the Binghamton Police Department. As always, our top priority remains providing a safe, top quality education for the students of our district. There is no evidence that the alleged misconduct extend beyond this situation.

The district is not releasing details of the nature of the alleged misconduct.
