Bearcats Lacrosse Continue Historic SeasonPosted: Updated:
Binghamton University's girls lacrosse team has had a historic season as they have made program history in more ways than one. But, at the top of that list is the fact that they have made it to the post-season and will be playing in the America East tournament, somewhere that no girl's lacrosse team has ever gone at BU.
"It's so surreal and bittersweet, it's a feeling that we have been waiting for, for five years and every year it's been a goal of ours to make it to the tournament and this year we are finally making it happen." Stated red-shirt senior Jocelyn Penteck
A feeling that everyone in Binghamton University's Women's lacrosse program has been waiting for, so of course the question is what has made the biggest difference this year in contributing to their success?
"I think it's the daily fight that they bring to the field, making sure that we're competing at a high level, executing at a higher level and really just the intensity that is there in everything we do. I think that's something that has been a goal of ours since we left that field in the final play of last season." Stated Bearcats Head Coach Stephanie Allen, who has been the the Bearcats head coach since January 2013.
Red-shirt senior Bri Arthur spoke with much passion in her eyes when stating that "the passion that our team has this year is unmatchable.... Everyone really wants to be there and I think that's a big change from past years. Everyone is really putting in the work that needs to be done in order to get to where we want to be." Stated Arthur.
The Bearcats have of course made it to where they want to be but now it's just the beginning. The Bearcats travel to the America East tournament May 4-6 and that will be hosted by No. 1 seed Stony Brook. Binghamton University will look to defeat the University at Albany Friday May 4th at 7:00 p.m.
