Get Rid if Your Unwanted and Unused Prescriptions

BROOME COUNTY, N.Y. -

If you have unwanted, unused, or outdated prescriptions, and are looking for a place to get rid of them-- there will be several disposal locations to do so, on Saturday. 

National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day is on Saturday and the Broome County Sheriff's Office has set up multiple locations across Broome County, to help make the community and the environment a safer place. 

You can drop off any over the counter medicine from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the following locations:

  • Broome County Sheriff's Office- 155 Lt. VanWinkle Dr., Binghamton
  • Windsor Community House- Main St., Windsor
  • Johnson City Elks Club- 4212 Watson Blvd., Johnson City 
  • Scoops Ice Cream Parking Lot- Route 11, Whitney Point
  • Vestal Fire Station #4- 3341 Vestal Parkway East
  • American Legion, Post 1700- 305 Maple St.

However, officials will not be able to collect syringes, or sharp objects. You can dispose of those at the Broome Sheriff's Office Monday-Friday from 7:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. in their lobby. 

The sheriff's office has collected nearly 2,000 pounds of old medication in the last six months.
